Last night, as part of the Johns Hopkins' New England Residency: Noticing as a Writer, we met and were treated to readings from guest authors, Kate Horowitz and Wayne Curtis. A former student of the writing program at Johns Hopkins, Horowitz read several of her published poems and an entertaining essay on bats. Curtis, one of my favorite professors at JHU, read his essay on living in Eastport, Maine which was published in Preservation Magazine.
My evening was once again topped off with piano music performed by Bill Trowell at the Bluenose Inn.. As Trowell played "The Impossible Dream", it dawned on me that I am living this song right now as I pursue my own dream of being the best writer that I can possibly be.
This is my quest, to follow that star...
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far...
To fight for the right, without question or pause...
To be willing to march into Hell, for a Heavenly cause...
